Variety strongly neutral, with an abundant flowering. Monterey shows a stable production with a similar behavior as Albion.
Market: Good condition for fresh market due to a sweet fruit production comparing with other varieties, it is also required and used by the agro-industrial sector (IQF).
Plant: It has a bigger size, with a fast initial growth that is why must be planted with a proper soil temperature (up to 12°C in the soil), in order to avoid an excess of vegetative growth that could delay the entry into production.
Manage: In case of "fresh plants", may increase the addition of nitrogen during the first stage of the crop. The fertilization requirement (N-P-K-Ca-Mg) in this stage of production is between 25 to 30% higher comparing with variety Albion, relevant aspect in order to keep good size fruits.
Fruit: Balanced red external color with red pulp. Firm fruit with a good post harvest life.
Pest and diseases: Relatively tolerant to rains (botrytis), with a grade of susceptibility to oidio. Sensible to thrips and acaris.
Plantation density: 62.000 plants/Hectare (27 cms between plants).
Potential performance: 81 tons/ hectare (during 9 month season).
