VARIETY: SAN ANDREAS
Moderated neutral variety, with a high response to photo-period. San Andreas shows marked peak of production. This variety has potential either to traditional production system or hydroponic.
Market: Really good condition for fresh market considering that San Andreas has the highest fruit size and homogeneity.
Plant: Intermediate size, with fast initial growth, that's why must be planted with an adequate soil temperature (up to 12°C) in order to avoid growth problems, that may delay the entry into production.
Manage: Avoid ammonium sources within the fertilization program, it is recommended to prefer nitrates sources. Avoid manure amendment. In order to keep firmness of the fruit, addition foliar calcium during production stage.
Fruit: Balanced external red color with a light red color in the pulp. Shows adequate color during cold periods (fall-spring).
Fruit with an adequate firmness during the harvest in fall-spring. During the hottest months, implement a correct fertilization program in order to keep the firmness of the fruit.
Pest and diseases: In general is the variety that shows more tolerance to diseases (principally Oidium) and better tolerance to fungi complex.
Plantation density: 62.000 plants /Hectare (27 cms between plants).
Potential performance: 78 Ton/Hectare (season of 9 months).
